Greenhill Students Selected for USA Debate & Development Teams

Three Greenhill students have been chosen to join the USA Debate Team and the Development Team.

Cameron Kettles ‘22 and Ashley Shan ‘22 have been selected to the USA Debate Team for the upcoming 2021-2022 season. This is Cameron and Ashley’s second year to be selected for the National Team. Cameron and Ashley have won two National Championships already as competitors, winning the World Schools division of the National Speech and Debate Associations national tournament in 2020, as well as the National Debate Coaches Association championships, in 2021.

The USA Debate team competes domestically as well as in international competitions held in Germany, Croatia, Slovenia, and Singapore. While COVID-19 has made competitions virtual, the team competes several times a year against the best and brightest students from around the world.

Natalie Stachowiak ’24 has been selected as a member of the Development Team of the USA Debate Team for the upcoming 2021-2022 season. The Development team serves as a training opportunity to prepare students for future application and participation on the USA Debate Team, in addition to providing valuable training and competitive opportunities both domestically and internationally.

Both the USA Debate Team and the Development Team are supported by the National Speech and Debate Association and are comprised of twelve high school students on each team. These students, who are from across the country, vied for membership through an application process that included multiple videos, essays, and personal interviews to go along with documentation of an outstanding record of Debate performances.

Congratulations to these amazing students for their hard work!
