Wes Kittleman Impact Award Honoree: Dr. Amy Bresie ’96

Congratulations to Greenhill faculty member and alumnus Dr. Amy Bresie ’96 for being named the 2024-2025 Wes Kittleman Impact Award honoree.

On May 15, during the Upper School assembly, Head of Upper School Trevor Worcester announced faculty member and alumnus Dr. Amy Bresie ’96 as the 2024-2025 Wes Kittleman Impact Award honoree.

Dr. Amy Bresie graduated from Greenhill School in 1996 and has been teaching Upper School history since 2014.

The Wes Kittleman Impact Award, named in honor of a former Upper School faculty member, was established in 2019 by Alexandra and Johnny Chilton '78. This award recognizes an outstanding member of the teaching faculty in Upper School known for excellence and dedication in their positive and transformational impact on students. The senior class nominates recipients of this award, and the Upper School student body votes to determine the nominee.

Here are some comments about this year's award honoree taken from the nominations submitted by the Class of 2025:

  • “Dr. Bresie always goes above and beyond for her students. She is a passionate teacher in and out of the classroom.”
  • “Dr. Bresie is one of the most intelligent and impassioned people I have ever met. She is dedicated to her students and shows them so much support and compassion. However, she doesn’t let her love for teaching cloud her expectations for their students' work. She’s never been known to be an easy grader or teach easy classes, but everyone I know is always so excited when they find out they are lucky enough to have her as a teacher.”
  • “Dr. Bresie encourages their students to go through their classes with the goal of growing rather than simply getting by with a passable grade. Her teaching style is unique in the way that she can get her students to think critically, yet out of the box. This teacher is an amazing example of what a successful and passionate Greenhill alumnus is capable of. She is well respected, and I know many of us are so grateful to have her as a teacher at Greenhill.”
  • “After my first day in their class, she had quickly become one of my favorite teachers here on the Hill. Her passion for what she teaches shines through everything they do, and they always find a way to make class fun – whether that be bringing in historical artifacts from their own personal collection, or opening class with a "Question of the Day" to get things started.”
  • “The elective she’s chosen to teach is one I'd like to highlight. There are so many incredible women who have helped shape humanity's history, and yet, so many have been written off in our history textbooks. Dr. Bresie’s dedication to shining the spotlight on these women has been unwavering.”

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Amy Bresie on receiving this award. And thank you to the Chilton family for making this award possible.
