Band Students Selected to State & Region Bands

In early December, Greenhill Middle and Upper School band members competed at multiple auditions in hopes of earning a chair. The results are below.

ATSSB ALL-REGION BAND
The Association of Texas Small School Bands comprises public and private schools that feed into high schools with enrollments under 1,315 students. Greenhill is a 3A high school. The following students will perform in concert in January.

• Saamya Malladi ’30 – 2nd chair flute
• Jennifer Regal ’30 – 3rd chair flute
• Stella Vigushin ’31 – 2nd chair alto sax

ATSSB REGION 24 ALL-REGION BAND AND AREA CANDIDATES
The Association of Texas Small School Bands includes public and private schools with enrollments of fewer than 1,315 students. Greenhill is Region 24, which roughly covers the area from Greenhill north to the Red River between I-35 and US-75. The Area candidates will audition on January 10 for a chance at the ATSSB/TMEA All-State Band that meets in San Antonio.

• Ansh Verma – clarinet – 8th chair Concert Band
• Sanay Nesargi – bassoon - 1st chair Concert Band
• Kevin Kim – alto saxophone – 2nd chair Concert Band
• Brian Chao – percussion – 8th chair Concert Band – Area candidate
• Sonia Brown – French horn – 1st alternate

TPSMEA ALL-STATE BAND The Texas Private School Music Educators Association includes private schools from the entire state. The band kids will join the choir and orchestra students who earned a chair in their auditions. They will perform at a concert in January at the Eisemann Center in Richardson.

TPSMEA NORTH REGION HONOR BAND
The Texas Private School Music Educators Association includes private schools from the entire state. These students will perform at a concert in February at Greenhill.
