Greenhill 2D students and faculty have recently earned recognition in several prestigious regional, national, and international competitions, highlighting the program’s creativity, technical skill, and artistic vision. Scholastic Arts and Writing
The Scholastic Arts and Writing contest recognizes students in the arts, with thousands of submissions nationwide. Students compete for scholarships and placement in single print and portfolio divisions. The following students earned awards:

Fort Worth Country Day Black & White Images Exhibition
The 2026 Fort Worth Country Day Black & White Images Exhibition is an annual juried competition showcasing black-and-white photography by high school students from public and private schools across the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. Established in 1989, the exhibition provides students an opportunity to share their work, exchange ideas with peers, and exhibit their photography in categories ranging from portraiture and photojournalism to landscape, still life, and experimental work. The following students earned awards:
- Wesley Black ’29: Honorable Mention – Landscape + Cityscape
- Ahan Jain ’27: Third Place – Experimental
- Javi Johnson ’27: Best in Show; First Place and Honorable Mention – Experimental
2026 YoungArts National Competition
The 2026 YoungArts National Competition recognizes outstanding young artists across the United States through a rigorous, multi-round adjudication process led by panels of distinguished artists. Winners are selected for the caliber of their artistic achievement and receive cash awards ranging from $250 to $10,000, along with ongoing creative and professional support through the YoungArts network. Top award recipients are also invited to participate in National YoungArts Week. Isabel Bhatia ’26 was awarded a Winner with Distinction award for Photography.
Additionally, Sumedha Rapuri ’26 earned Honorable Mention and participated in a YoungArts New York Lab, a four-day, all-expense-paid workshop in New York City for selected YoungArts artists. The program brings together emerging artists from across disciplines to collaborate with professional artists, explore multidisciplinary approaches to artmaking, and develop new work though creative sessions, museum visits, and group projects.
United States Presidential Scholars Program
The United States Presidential Scholars Program was established by the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars and is administered by the United States Department of Education. The program recognizes some of the nation’s most distinguished graduating high school seniors for their achievements in academics, the arts, and career and technical education. Candidates submit applications for review, with approximately 600 students advancing to semifinalist status and up to 161 ultimately named U.S. Presidential Scholars each year. Isabel Bhatia ’26 was named a candidate for this prestigious national recognition.
Fall Contest (Association of Texas Photographic Instructors)
The Association of Texas Photographic Instructors hosted the Fall Contest with 6,700 entries from across the nation, Canada, and Great Britain. Beginning and Advanced students competed across divisions with a multitude of Greenhill Photography placing and winning:

LensCulture Art Photography Awards 2026
Greenhill photography faculty artist Frank Lopez has been recognized internationally for his work in the LensCulture Art Photography Awards 2026, which honors photographers whose work expands and reimagines the possibilities of photographic art.
Presented by LensCulture, the awards highlight exceptional photographers and visual artists from around the world whose work demonstrates innovation, technical mastery, and creative vision. Selected by an international jury of curators, editors, and photography professionals, this year’s honorees represent a wide range of contemporary photographic practices and perspectives.
