Frank Lopez, Middle and Upper School photography teacher, was recently recognized at the Review Santa Fe Symposium, a curated gathering of 100 photographic artists and 45 critics held November 1-3. The event offers artists the opportunity to engage with leading voices in photography and explore innovative approaches to the medium. Lopez received the Jay & Susie Tyrrell Excellence in Works by Hand Award for his project Manifestation of Light and Energy. This annual award honors an artist who, by their hand, works to make unique objects of art. The aim is to encourage the preservation of historical photographic processes as well as works whose process may include collage, emulsion transfer, painting, sewing, and the use of sculpture and ceramics. This marks Lopez’s second international award from CENTER Santa Fe, having previously earned the 2020 Callanan Award for Photographic Teaching Excellence. His recognition underscores a commitment to preserving traditional photographic practices while inspiring new generations of artists. Congratulations to Frank! |
