Class of 2027 Receives Signature Greenhill Sweatshirts

As part of Homecoming week, Greenhill's Alumni Board continued a tradition that has connected generations of Hornets for more than three decades: presenting every senior with a Greenhill sweatshirt.

Given annually during Homecoming, the sweatshirt is more than school apparel. Each one is embroidered with the graduating class year on the sleeve and created exclusively for that year's seniors. Because the sweatshirt is not available for purchase, it serves as a keepsake unique to each graduating class and a lasting reminder of students' time on the Hill.

The tradition began in the 1990s and has become a meaningful rite of passage for Greenhill seniors. For many alumni, the sweatshirt remains a tangible connection to Greenhill long after graduation, accompanying them to college campuses, new cities, and adventures around the world. It represents both the experiences they shared as students and the community that continues beyond Commencement.

Its presentation during Homecoming is especially significant. As alumni return to campus to celebrate Greenhill traditions and reconnect with one another, seniors are reminded that they are about to join that same alumni community. Christian Quintero ’17 reflected on the opportunities that await the Class of 2027, telling students, “Like every class before you, you're heading into a world that's about to open up in ways you can't imagine. You'll find new ways of thinking, new people, and new places that will expand your mind and show you horizons you never dreamed of.”

As students begin their final year on the Hill, the sweatshirt marks both an ending and a beginning: the culmination of their Greenhill experience and the start of whatever comes next. Presented by alumni and worn by seniors, it serves as a visible reminder that while students may leave the Hill, the connections, experiences, and lessons they carry from Greenhill remain with them wherever they go.
