Greenhill Alum Breaks World Record

Congratulations to Ariana Luterman ’18 for setting a world record as the fastest female to complete six Ironman Triathlons on six continents in one year.

Two years ago, Ariana Luterman ’18 wasn’t racing. In fact, she wasn’t even walking much. Her life consisted of endless hospital visits, unanswered questions, and a select number of foods she could stomach without pain.

“I felt like my story had ended before it was meant to,” she said. “When skin cancer came on top of it all, I wondered if my body had anything left to give. But in that stillness, I learned to fight. I promised myself if I ever got my health back, I wouldn’t waste a second.”

That’s when she decided to Google “triathlon world records” and dared to dream again. She started racing triathlons when she was just seven years old. But she hadn’t raced in years.

“The sport that raised me was calling me home – only this time, it had to be bigger. Bolder. Not just a return, but a declaration of health,” she said.

Now, Luterman has made history by achieving the fastest female aggregate time to complete a full IRONMAN triathlon on six continents within 12 months.* From October 27, 2024, to October 5, 2025, she completed in the following:

  • IM California, The Soul Test
  • IM Western Australia, The Surrender Test
  • IM South Africa, The Solo Test
  • IM Brazil, The Scare Test
  • IM Japan, The Selfless Test
  • IM Barcelona, The Summit

“When I started this journey, it wasn’t about medals or times,” she said. “It was about becoming the kind of person capable of doing the impossible. It’s proof that the human spirit, when fueled by purpose, is unstoppable.”
