Community Invited to Support Students Through Annual Service Drive
The annual Estelle Dickens Service Drive invites Greenhill families to support students at George H.W. Bush Elementary through September 29.
At Greenhill's Founders Day celebration, the community was invited to honor Estelle Dickens' legacy through the annual Estelle Dickens Service Drive, a tradition that reflects her lifelong commitment to education, service, and care for others.
Dickens served Greenhill for 44 years, from 1960 to 2004, holding roles that included fourth-grade teacher, Head of Lower School, and learning assistant. During the Founders Day assembly, Miles Wilson ’27 reflected on the impact she had on generations of students and educators.
"She is remembered for saying that her greatest pleasure in life was guiding each child on their individual learning journey," Wilson shared. "While she certainly made her mark on Greenhill, her selflessness and impact reached far beyond our community."

This year's drive benefits George H.W. Bush Elementary School in Dallas ISD (neighboring Greenhill’s campus), which recently expanded to serve students from prekindergarten through sixth grade and now supports approximately 800 students. They need the following items:
Collection bins are in every division, including the PS/LS Administration Building, outside the Middle School Rotunda, and outside the Upper School North Office. The drive continues through September 29. |

Wilson emphasized that donations of everyday classroom supplies can have a meaningful impact on students and families.
"Bush shares Estelle Dickens' belief in the importance of education and passion for learning," he said.
"Donating items like pencils and notebooks can make a bigger impact than many of you realize. We can help ease the stress of affording school supplies so that kids can truly focus on their own learning journey."
By participating, Greenhill families can help meet classroom needs while carrying forward the values Dickens championed throughout her career. As Wilson reminded the community, "Serving the communities that surround us allows us to honor her spirit and Greenhill's spirit of giving."
