Student Achieves National and International Success in Archery

Sykes Lamensdorf ’28 capped off an outstanding 2026 archery season by finishing No. 1 nationally in the Men’s U18 Barebow division and earning selection to the USA Archery Team for the second consecutive year. Climbing from a No. 5 national ranking the previous season, Sykes established himself as one of the nation's top young archers through a series of impressive performances on both the national and international stage.

In May, Sykes represented the United States at the Youth Pan American Championships in Medellín, Colombia, where he won the gold medal in the U18 Men's Barebow category. He followed that achievement with additional gold-medal performances at the JOAD (Junior Olympic Archery Development) Target Nationals Outdoor Championship and the JOAD U.S. Open. USA Archery, the National Governing Body for archery in the United States, oversees athlete development and selection for Olympic competition, making Sykes' accomplishments especially significant.

Throughout his archery journey, Sykes has benefited from the Greenhill community's encouragement. Faculty, staff, and mentors have consistently supported his growth, with Mr. Doyle, Mr. Timmons, and Ms. Almanza regularly checking in on his progress, offering guidance, and celebrating his successes.
