Greenhill Students Return to Campus for 2026-2027 School Year

On August 20, Greenhill officially launched the 2026-2027 school year, welcoming 1,459 students in Preschool, Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School back to campus for a day filled with excitement, reconnection, and new beginnings. As families, faculty, and students gathered to mark the start of the year, the energy across campus reflected the opportunities and discoveries that lie ahead.

During the Upper School opening assembly, Head of School Lee Hark challenged students to think about Greenhill’s mission – In a diverse and inclusive community, Greenhill prepares and inspires students to lead authentic, purposeful lives – in practical terms.

"Authentic means you're the same person no matter who's in the room," he said, encouraging students to resist the pressure to change themselves based on who is watching. He also offered a clear definition of purpose: "Purposeful means something smaller and more useful: pay attention to why you're doing something, not just whether you finished it."

Hark explained that the school's mission calls for both qualities to work together. "Put them together, and you get something worth having: someone who knows who they are and knows why they're doing what they're doing."

As students settled into classrooms across every division, they began the year with a shared challenge to approach each day with authenticity, intention, and curiosity. With a campus full of energy and possibility, Greenhill is poised for another year of learning, growth, and connection.
