Students Chosen for National and State Debate Teams

Congratulations to four Greenhill debaters whose outstanding achievements have earned them places on elite national and state rosters.

Each year, the National Speech & Debate Association selects 12 students nationwide for the USA Debate National Team and 12 more for the USA Development Team. Students are chosen from an association of more than 140,000 members nationwide.

Congratulations to Tim Csallner ’28, who has been selected to the USA Debate National Team, and Marleigh Massoud ’28, who has once again earned a place on the USA Development Team. Both endured a rigorous application process, including essays, video submissions, interviews, and a record of exceptional debate achievement, before being named to these rosters. They will go on to represent the United States against the best student debaters in the world.

Greenhill's success in debate does not stop at the national level. The Texas Forensic Association hosts one of the largest debate circuits in the country, with more than 1,500 students competing at its state tournament each year. From that entire field, only 16 are chosen for Team Texas.

Congratulations to Arhaan Iyer ’28, who has been selected to return to the team for a second year, a mark of sustained excellence that few debaters achieve, and to Cindy Chou ’28, who has been selected to join the team for the first time. Together, they will represent Texas and Greenhill in upcoming competitions.

We look forward to cheering you on throughout the season!
