Student Earns Congressional Award Gold Medal

Greenhill student Rahul Singhal ’27 was recognized as a member of the 2026 Congressional Award Gold Medal Class, one of 877 young Americans honored with Congress' highest award for youth civilians. The Congressional Award recognizes exceptional achievement in voluntary public service, personal development, physical fitness, and expedition or exploration.

Rahul traveled to Washington, D.C., in June to participate in the 2026 Gold Medal Summit, where recipients were recognized at the U.S. Capitol, connected with fellow honorees from across the country, and engaged in leadership programming and meetings with members of Congress. The summit celebrated years of goal setting, perseverance, and meaningful contributions to local communities.

Rahul's achievement reflects Greenhill's core value of integrity, which calls students to pursue their goals with honesty and strong character. Earning the Gold Medal requires sustained dedication across multiple areas of personal growth. Through volunteer service with organizations including Brother Bill's Helping Hand, independent travel experiences, and a disciplined commitment to academic preparation, Rahul demonstrated the kind of character and follow-through that embody Greenhill's core value of Integrity.

Reflecting on the experience, Rahul shared: "Volunteering for those in need through organizations such as Brother Bill's Helping Hand, I learned to adapt to the needs of those facing hardships and to communicate professionally. Through independent traveling and mindful SAT prep, I learned to appreciate the intricacies of everyday life. Overall, participating in the Congressional Award has taught me the value of commitment and leadership to a certain goal, skills I hope to translate into my future endeavors."
