Students Moving the Planet Beyond Fossil Fuels

On September 24, 2011, a group of Greenhill students led by senior Ivan Kumamoto will join together with the Organization of Young Environmental Activists (OYEA), consisting of high school students across the Dallas area, to take part in an international effort known as Moving Planet.

The goals of Moving Planet are to move the world towards independence from fossil fuels. The student groups will be promoting this goal by marching, rallying, and carrying signs and posters to raise awareness over the many problems that fossil fuels create.

The OYEA rally will take the DART rail to their final destination of Fair Park. There they will have a petition asking the city of Dallas for better and more extensive public transit, especially rail systems, to further push their demands for fossil fuel independence. Various speakers, including the CEO of Dolphin Blue Office Supplies, will also be present at the event to talk about the importance of public transit and environmental awareness.
