Greenhill Graduate Selected as Finalist for NSDA Student of the Year

Recent graduate Joshua Timmons was selected as a finalist for the National Speech & Debate Association National Student of the Year, which was announced on Wednesday.

Timmons is one of seven finalists, who were all nominated by their districts for the commitment to the tenets of the Code of Honor: humility, equity, integrity, respect, leadership, and service. The winner will be announced at the national tournament in July.

In May, Timmons captured his fifth career national championship after winning the title at the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions. Timmons was crowned national champion in Program Oral Interpretation, which was a category that featured 134 students from across the nation.

At the same time that the final round of Programmed Oral Interpretation was scheduled, Timmons was competing with the boys track and field team at the SPC Spring Championships. Timmons helped the Hornets break a school record in the 4x100-meter relay then performed in the final round of the competition 15 minutes later. Following his national championship performance, Timmons rejoined the Hornets for the remainder of the SPC Spring Championships.
