Greenhill Announces Tony Banks as Head Football Coach

Greenhill School announces the hiring of Tony Banks as new Head Football Coach. Tony joined Greenhill last fall as an assistant football coach, and he quickly earned the respect of the students as he helped them grow and improve as student athletes.

Tony brings more than 20 years of athletics and coaching experience to Greenhill, most notably as a former player in the National Football League. Over a ten-year period, Tony played quarterback for teams including the St. Louis Rams and the Houston Texans, earning a Super Bowl ring with the Baltimore Ravens in 2001. After leaving the NFL, Tony transitioned into the role of coach, offering both individual and team coaching, inspiring players to strengthen their skills, and building cohesive teams, ultimately empowering young players to play at their highest ability over the past eight years. Tony has also served as a TV host on Fox Sports, offering in-depth analysis of NFL and NBA games for viewers.

“Tony is totally prepared to do a fine job [as] a football coach, and [he will] set a positive example for all the young people he will be working with,” said Dick Vermeil, former Super Bowl winning coach and two-time NFL Coach of the Year.

“From the moment Tony stepped foot on campus last summer, he brought a level of excitement to the program, invigorated team culture, and connected with players,” shared Jarrett Shine, Head of Athletics and Physical Education. “We are looking forward to his leadership as head coach.”

A native of California, Tony attended Michigan State University where he also starred as quarterback. He will start working with the Greenhill football team during spring football in the coming weeks.
