Remote Learning to Continue for Remainder of School Year

Greenhill Families,

Earlier today, Governor Abbott announced that all schools should remain closed through the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year to help slow the spread of COVID-19. While this announcement was expected, it is still incredibly difficult for me to share, finally, that Greenhill’s campus will remain closed through the end of May. We will continue to fulfill the School’s mission by educating our students through our remote learning program during that time, and our official last day of school will be Thursday, May 21, 2020. Division heads will share additional details about the remaining weeks of school in their forthcoming communications.

REMOTE LEARNING CONTINUES
Our dedicated faculty are committed to offering a dynamic and engaging remote learning experience for your students through the close of the year. Your feedback has already led to adjustments and improvements to our program. We will continue to seek insights from your observations at home, and we are investing in additional professional development opportunities for our faculty to make our delivery of remote learning as effective as possible.

SUPPORTING FAMILIES
We also understand the tremendous financial challenges that the prolonged school closure and the economic disruption have created for our families. We are gathering information about the financial implications of the closure, and we will share additional information about ways we hope to be able to help our families in the days ahead.

LOOKING AHEAD
We have heard from many of you, particularly those of you with children in the younger grades, that you are worried about the academic progress of your students and their readiness for the next school year. We know that this experience is unprecedented for all our students. Before we start the 2020-2021 school year, our teachers will assess their classes and work together to make developmentally appropriate adjustments to the planned curriculum.

VIRTUAL TOWN HALL
We would like to invite you to attend a virtual town hall with members of our leadership team to offer additional insights and answer questions you may have about our extended closure. We will hold two sessions on Thursday, April 23 at 9:00 am and at 4:00 pm. Please watch your inboxes for log in information and additional details early next week.

In closing, we share the disappointment that many of you feel, knowing that the end of the school year will not include the traditional celebrations that mean so much to all of us. We are working to honor our students, particularly our seniors, and we look forward to sharing more with you soon about those plans. As I mentioned in my letter last week, even though we are apart, the core of our community remains strong, and I know that we will have a memorable finish to 2019-2020.

Thank you again for your ongoing support of our students and our school.

My best,

Lee J. Hark
