Greenhill School Closing Friday, March 13 + Activity Cancellations

Dear Greenhill Families,Our administrative team is closely monitoring the news and information about the spread of COVID-19. We have remained in regular contact with our local health officials and have continued to communicate with local peer schools.While we do not have a current concern of exposure to the coronavirus in our Greenhill community, we have decided to close for all students tomorrow, Friday, March 13. All after-school activities, including athletics, fine arts, and extended day, will also be cancelled.We will use Friday, March 13 as a professional development day for our faculty members to give them additional time to prepare for remote learning, should that become necessary in the coming weeks. Please note: We have not yet decided whether we are closing school after spring break.In addition, we are cancelling or postponing all on-campus, large-group activities, and out-of-town, school-sponsored travel through Saturday, April 4. We will continue to evaluate all in-town school activities (including athletics) on a case-by-case basis. Athletics competitions for today, March 12, will go on as scheduled.We felt these were important steps for our school to take given the rapidly changing nature of the virus and concerns we have heard from parents. We are hopeful that the early start to spring break, as well as clarity around activities following the break, will help to alleviate some of the uncertainty we are all facing.Please continue to monitor Greenhill’s coronavirus website for a full list of cancellations or event changes.We will send another communication to you prior to our return from spring break. We know that this last-minute closure tomorrow may provide some difficulty for families, and we appreciate your flexibility.
