MS Sixth-Graders Honored in Letter About Literature Competition

Two Greenhill Middle School students were among the nine winners in the Texas Round of the 2017 Letters About Literature Competition, which was sponsored in part by the Texas Center for the Book.

Sixth-graders Celina Prieur and Haylie Stobaugh won first and second in Level One, which was impressive considered every 6th grade student at Greenhill entered the competition. The students were asked to write a letter to author (living or deceased) about his or her book has affected their lives. Prieur wrote a letter to English novelist Mark Haddon while Stobaugh wrote to Raquel J. Palacio.

The first-place winners will have the opportunity to read their letters and be honored at the Texas Association of School Librarians (TASL) Meeting at the annual conference in San Antonio.

Congratulations Celina and Haylie!
