Hornets Knock Off St. Mark's School of Texas, 42-27

The Greenhill football team recorded its first victory over crosstown rivals St. Mark's School of Texas in 13 years following a 42-27 road triumph on Friday evening.
 
Senior quarterback Konnell Woods connected on 17-of-27 passes for a career-high 420 yards and four touchdowns. In addition, Woods was the Hornets' top rusher as he finished with 71 yards on 13 carries and touchdown runs of 1 and 12 yards.
 
Woods gave the Hornets a 6-0 lead in the first quarter after connecting with Xavier Bryant for a 57-yard score. Bryant finished with a career-high 211 yards on six receptions to go along with scores of 57 and 79 yards. After a 33-yard touchdown strike to Bryson Houston and 1-yard Woods' score, the Hornets held a 20-0 lead in the second quarter.
 
After a pair of St. Mark's scores prior to halftime, the Hornets came out in the third quarter and scored on their first three possessions. Woods scored on a 12-yard run followed by throwing strikes of 79 yards to Bryant and 31 yards to Kassidy Woods to give Greenhill a 42-14 lead. The junior Woods caught four passes for 118 yards and one touchdown.
 
Jake Hershman rushed for 46 yards on 10 carries and caught three passes for 10 yards. Sophomore JT Herrscher led the Hornets with eight tackles while Bryant and Michael Simpson added three tackles.
 
The Hornets outgained St. Mark's by a 544-to-341 margin in the contest.
