Three Greenhill Middle School Quiz Bowl teams competed at the 2023 Middle School National Championship Tournament on May 12-14. See the complete results below.
Greenhill A, comprised of
Tomal Khan ’28,
Connor Kim ’28,
Arman Makhani ’28, and
Dylan Shah ’28, had a great showing and finished in 13th place out of 160 of the best teams in the nation.
Arman was recognized as an All-Star by finishing with the eighth-best individual performance in a field of over 800 students.
Greenhill B, comprised of
Akash Bose ’27,
Adam Haq ’28,
Henry Lipnik ’27, and
Vikram Sampath ’27, finished the preliminary rounds with an even record — a major achievement at the national level — and performed well in the consolation rounds.
Greenhill C, comprised of Blake Clark ’29, Benedetta Gennarelli ’29, Colin Houpt ’29, Evan Huang ’29, and Adam Tawil ’29, qualified for playoffs by finishing the preliminary rounds with a winning record of 5-3, including a comeback victory in their final match. Sixth graders are a rare sight at nationals, but this team had a strong performance, finishing 49th in a field of 160 mostly seventh- and eighth-grade teams.

This season, members of Greenhill’s Middle School Quiz Bowl team competed in 10 tournaments. For most of the tournaments, Greenhill entered multiple teams of four students with several teams advancing to the playoffs and, more often than not, securing victories in their respective divisions.
