Greenhill Debate wins NDCA National Championship in World Schools

The team of Ashton Higgins ’22, Ashley Shan ’22, and Aimee Stachowiak ’22 won the National Debate Coaches Association National Championship in the World Schools division. The team was undefeated in the tournament and did not lose a single ballot throughout the competition.

In the final round, the team was opposing the motion: This House, as the United Nations Security Council, would send peacekeepers to the Tigray region of Ethiopia. It was an example of “full contact social studies” being put on display by these students on a difficult topic. This is the second year in a row Greenhill School has claimed the National Championship in World Schools at this tournament. This tournament concludes the season for these seniors as they wrap up their careers, along with teammates Caroline Greenstone ’22 and Cameron Kettles ’22 with four national tournament victories, three state championships, and numerous wins at invitationals this season at The Blake School, Harvard Westlake, the University of Texas among others.

The team of Aberra Amer ’24, Kaden Alibhai ’24, Vivaan Gupta ’24, Sophia Mohamed ’23, and Michelle Phu ’24 reached the quarterfinals at NDCA.

Abeera Amer ’24 and Ashley Shan ’22 were awarded the second and fourth place individual speaker awards at the tournament.

Congratulations to all of the debate students on their hard work and success.
