Visual Arts

Students have the opportunity to build a visual vocabulary as a means of self-expression while fostering respect for the arts of others.
The Greenhill Visual Arts program is comprised of 2D and 3D Art. Students have the opportunity to learn from some of the finest teachers and artists as they develop and enhance their artistic skills.
 
Preschool and Lower School students attend weekly art classes, learning about art history, the diversity of the art world and the fundamentals of art through experimentation with a wide variety of materials. The program is designed to give students the opportunity to build a visual vocabulary as a means of self-expression while fostering respect for the art of others.
 
In Middle School, students have the opportunity to demonstrate and transfer their knowledge of the elements of art and principles of design in numerous projects. Students are exposed to past and current artwork and are challenge to explore their relationship in history while also expanding their already expansive and impressive artistic foundation.
 
The Upper School Visual Art Program includes courses in Design, Digital Art, Drawing, Fashion Drawing, Film & Video Production, Painting, Photography as well as Sculpture and Ceramics. Students have the opportunity to advance their skills from foundation courses through Advanced Placement course that are offered in both Studio 2D and 3D Art.

2D/3D Art

Talents of the Greenhill students have been showcased throughout North Texas. Students have had work exhibited and been honored in the Texas Visual Art Association, and Young American Talent competitions, two highly-regarded regional art competitions. In addition, artwork from all divisions has been featured in the Dallas Museum of Art's Young Artist Exhibitions.
 

Digital Art

Students use digital technology as a central core of their personal voice and artistic expression. Inside Greenhill's Filmmaking & Digital Art Lab, students develop their skills from learning the very basics of creating images to developing award-winning digital masterpieces. With the aid of emerging technology, students have the opportunity develop stunning works of art.
 

Film & Video Production

In just 18 years, Greenhill's video production program has grown from a single film class to a nationally-acclaimed program that inspires gifted students to pursue promising film careers. Greenhill films consistently earn accolades at film festivals around the world. In fact, Greenhill has had the most films accepted to SXSW of any school for seven years and counting.
 

Photography

Greenhill has produced several award-winning students from the Visual Arts program, including recent winners at YoungArts – the core program of the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts (NFAA). Students have also been honored at the Photo Imagining Education Association (PIEA) International Student-Teacher Photography Competition and Exhibition, which features works from over 5,700 entries all over the globe.
