Greenhill Senior Earns Top Private School Honors From TFFCA
Greenhill senior Jernaya Sharp '16 was named the Texas Track & Field Coaches Association Private School Female Track & Field Athlete of the Year, which was announced on Friday, June 17.
One of the top sprinters in the State of Texas, Sharp earned multiple All-Southwest Preparatory Conference honors for the fourth consecutive year as the Notre-Dame signee captured individual crowns in the 100-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles, long jump and triple jump.
The Greenhill senior was a three-time conference champion during the 2015 season where she won the 100-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles and long jump. This past season, Sharp earned all-conference accolades in six events (100-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles, long jump, triple jump, 4x100-meter relay and 4x400-meter relay) and earned 17 all-conference awards total during her track and field career. A holder of three Greenhill track records, Sharp earned an invitation to compete at the Texas Meet of Champions where she was pitted against all conference champions from around the state in 2015. Sharp finished second overall in the 100-meter dash and long jump as well as fourth in the 100-meter hurdles.
