Another exciting week of competition brought memorable moments, impressive performances, and plenty to celebrate across Greenhill Athletics.
Cross Country
The team had a good week of practice to get ready for their meet this Saturday.
Cheer
A huge thank you to the cheerleaders for making all the Preschool and Lower School students who went to the cheerleading camp feel so welcome at the football game. Seeing them smile and have so much fun was all because of you! They also gave an impressive halftime performance with our cheerleaders.
Football
Big shoutout to the football team for battling for 40 minutes against H.S.A.A. Trey Davis had another multi-touchdown game! They played a very good team, and while many teams quit when facing a deficit, these boys fought until the final whistle. We should be very proud of how these boys wear their Greenhill uniform week in and week out and battle these teams with twice as many players suited up. While many teams have players play only offense or only defense, some of our boys play offense, defense, and special teams. Our boys go out and represent the school with pride and class each week regardless of what the scoreboard says.
Field Hockey
Field Hockey lost a tough game against Hockaday in a well-played match by both teams. Greenhill played solid defense, but plagued by injuries to some of our key offensive players, we had trouble finding the back of the net. We hope to have another battle with them at SPC.
Boys Volleyball
After a tough away game at Trinity Valley, the boys responded with a shutout against Fort Worth Country Day later in the week.
Girls Volleyball
It has been a while since our girls volleyball team defeated the Hockaday Daisies, who have won 3 of the past 5 SPC championships, but in our conference game against them this week, the girls showed great mental toughness. After taking a 2-0 lead, Hockaday battled back to win the third and fourth sets. While many teams fold in this situation, our Hornet volleyball players did not. With some great kills from Bree Carethers, Sophia Deibert, and Jordy Wilkofsky, excellent blocks from Kellyn Lonergan, Anaya Dubé, and Julia Deibert, and London Kuntz commanding the back row, the girls showed great resilience and grit as they defeated Hockaday in the 5th game! They followed this up with a 3-1 win against non-conference opponent Legacy Christian!
