Important Information Concerning Relay & COVID-19

Greenhill School is taking its guidance from health officials entrusted with protecting the public during the coronavirus pandemic. We understand our role in ensuring a safe environment for all participants, volunteers, and spectators that meets the standards set by those officials. We will do whatever we can to host the 36th annual Greenhill/Luke's Locker 6-Mile Relay and provide an opportunity for athletes to compete in a safe manner. Please consult this website throughout the summer for any meet updates.
The Greenhill 6-Mile Relay race has been a mainstay on the Texas high school cross country schedule for the past 36 years.
The race was the brainchild of legendary Greenhill coach Tom Holodak. Holodak created the original course at Norbuck Park in Dallas and soon haybales and intense competition became the norm. And while champions have rotated among various schools, the meet has remained one of the longest running cross country events in Texas.
The 36th Annual Greenhill/Luke's Locker 6-Mile Relay will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2020, at Norbuck Park. The season-opening relay will feature eight different races in four categories with a pair of hay bale obstacles along the course. In addition, the returning team champions from the previous season will be wearing the coveted Yellow Jersey singlets.
Deadline for entry into the 36th Annual Greenhill/Luke's Locker 6-Mile Relay will be Wednesday, August 19, 2020. Entries will close once 50 schools register (due to COVID-19 we may limit the field even more). Below are special instructions on entry:
  • $40 for each relay team
  • $280 maximum fee for schools entered in more than two divisions
  • A school may enter two Varsity teams and a maximum of 20 Junior Varsity teams.
Special Notes:
  • Please understand that in the case of inclement weather (beyond our control) that forces the cancellation of the race, school entry fees for the 6-Mile Relay will not be refunded.
  • Since this meet normally marks the beginning of the cross country season, we realize that it might be difficult with the entry fee so just bring it with you to the meet or mail it later on.
