We are excited to welcome everyone to campus on Thursday, August 20. For safety and security, the Greenhill Security Team manages carpool procedures. All community members are expected to follow the instructions of our Security Team and cooperate with drop-off and dismissal procedures.
Please review the divisional procedures below. Also, please have patience with both morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up during the first few days of school. If necessary, we will make adjustments to the procedures to help carpool run more smoothly.
Preschool – grade 1: Drop off at the front porch of the Preschool and Lower School Administration building. Staff and fourth graders will be present to open doors and greet the students.
Grades 2-4: Drop off at Three Chimneys Circle. Students arriving between 7:45 and 8:00 am may enter through the west entrance at Three Chimneys Circle.
Staff and fourth graders will be present to open doors and greet students.
Preschool Afternoon Pick-up (2:45 pm)
Early arrivals should form a single line in the right lane beginning at the southeast carpool sign.
At 2:40 pm, staff will direct vehicles forward.
Prekindergarten and kindergarten students are picked up at the front porch of the Preschool and Lower School Administration building.
Students will be called to their cars by staff who will help load them.
Please remain in your car while students are loaded. If your student needs help with a seatbelt or car seat, pull forward beyond the corner of the Lower School building before assisting.
Lower School Afternoon Pick-up (3:15 pm)
Early arrivals should form one line in the right lane beginning at the southeast carpool sign.
When Preschool carpool ends (no earlier than 3:00 pm), Security directs traffic into two lanes: left lane: Grades 2-4 and right lane: Primer & Grade 1 (and older siblings).
At 3:15 pm, staff will release cars to pickup locations:
Primer & Grade 1: Front porch of the Lower School Administration building. Older siblings in grades 2-4 will join them there.
Grades 2-4: Three Chimneys Circle. Please pull forward as far as possible and remain in a single line.
Students will be called to their cars by staff on duty.
Middle School students may be dropped off before 8:00 am at the Three Chimneys Circle, the gym overhang, or the MPAC.
Grade-level teams will let them know where to wait for building entry and check-in.
Grades 5-6 Afternoon Pick-up
Students will be dismissed at 3:45 pm, and carpool will begin at 3:50 pm.
New this year, we will use a batch loading system with two rows of vehicles around the Three Chimneys Circle.
During each ‘batch,’ we will fill the circle with two rows of vehicles: right lane (closest to the buildings) and left lane (closest to the grassy area in the middle).
Once both rows are stationary, security will blow a whistle, indicating that students should proceed to the vehicles.
When all students are in vehicles, security will signal rows to dismiss.
Once those vehicles have cleared the circle, two new rows of vehicles will be directed into the circle.
We will have a security person at each end of the circle to direct vehicles.
Middle School faculty will be stationed between the two rows to facilitate loading on the inner circle and to help ensure student safety.
If your student is not in your vehicle when the two rows are dismissed, you will loop back around the south side of the circle and into the next group of vehicles waiting for students.
Students participating in field hockey and dance will be picked up in the MPAC parking lot at 4:05 pm.
Students in Sports Performance, volleyball, and cross country will be picked up at the gym overhang off Hornet Road at 4:05 pm.
Students in football will be picked up at the gym overhang at 4:30 pm.
Watch for additional information from Athletics.
Pick-up is supervised by coaches and instructors.
Lower School families who are waiting for a Middle School student to be dismissed may be asked to circle around until 5-6 carpool begins or until 7-8 athletic teams are dismissed. Only siblings of Upper School students are allowed to be picked up in the Upper School carpool line, and no students are to be picked up in the cafeteria loading zone.
For 7-8 athletes with 5-6 siblings, please contact your coach directly for pick-up accommodations on the Three Chimneys Circle so that you do not need to travel to two different pick-up locations. Please plan to wait in the parking lot south of Brinkmann Field for your 7-8 athlete after you have picked up your 5-6 sibling.
For carpool to operate smoothly, it is critical that you display your school-issued carpool tag. Every driver in your family must display a tag. Fifth and sixth grade tags are blue; seventh and eighth grade tags are pink. Tags can be picked up at Open House. If you arrive at carpool without a tag, you will be handed a blank one to fill out.
After 4:15 pm, Middle School students who are not picked up will be escorted to Middle School Extended Day in the dining hall. The accompanying teacher will inform parents/guardians, and a $45 fee will be charged. In the event of an emergency, please call the Middle School office (972-628-5430) by 4:00 pm and Extended Day (972-628-5600).
Middle School students may not wait unsupervised in the gym, dining hall, or other campus locations. Middle School students may not go to the Buzz after school for any reason unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. This means parking and meeting the child before stopping by the Buzz. Advising teams will make sure that students know this expectation, and we ask for your partnership as well.
