Hornets Finish Eighth in SPC Championship
The Greenhill boys soccer team placed eighth at the 2023-24 Winter SPC Championships on February 8-10 in Houston.
The Hornets endured a difficult SPC tournament starting off with a tough 0-6 loss to an impressive Awty International School team (who went on to play in the championship game). The boys played extremely well in their second-round match against The John Cooper School, dominating possession and territory for large periods of the game. A late goal gave John Cooper the win, 1-2.
In the final match against a very good St. John’s School, the Hornets played extremely well and went in at halftime down 1-2. Unfortunately, after missed chances in the second half, the boys went down 1-4 after conceding two goals.
They finished the season 8-9-1 and 3-6 against SPC opponents. What the record doesn’t show is the adversity and resilience this young team showed this season. Congratulations to these hard-working student-athletes!
