Greenhill Musicians Shine at Statewide Competitions

The Greenhill Fine Arts Department earned several accolades this past weekend in statewide competitions.

This past Saturday, Geli Kane `17 auditioned and earned a chair in the Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB) 4A All-State Band. The Greenhill flute player will join Arya Nallanthighall `18, who earlier earned ATSSB All-State Jazz Band honors, at the ATSSB All-State clinic and concert in Saturday on February 10-13.

Over 9,000 high school band students from across Texas began the process of auditioning in 20 different regions for a place in their respective all-region bands. This led to five all-area auditions held this past weekend, and the top musicians were invited to join the ATSSB All-State Band.

In addition, Max Harberg `16 and Alanna Jaffee `16 along with Ryan Hanger `17 and Julia Smith `18 were selected Texas Private School Music Educators Association (TPSMEA) All-Region Choir this past weekend at Texas Christian Academy.

Senior Andrew Montgomery was selected to the TPSMEA All-State Orchestra for the second consecutive year and received the second-highest state score for violin during his initial audition this past December.
