Greenhill Students Make Headlines Around Dallas

Whether it's helping homeless children, teaching others to develop leadership skills in the kitchen or winning local art contests, Greenhill students continue to shine and make headlines for their outstanding work outside of the classrooms.

Greenhill Sophomore Featured in ADDISON Magazine
Greenhill Upper School student Ariana Luterman `18 was not only featured in ADDISON Magazine, but also graced the cover of the Fall Edition. The magazine featured Luterman's story of being a triathlete who races to raise money for the Vogel Alcove in Dallas, a charity dear to her heart and one that benefits homeless children. Luterman has made a name for herself in the triathlon community (which combines running, biking and swimming into one competition) as she won her age group at the State Duathlon Championship, Midwest Regional Triathlon Championship and a pair of Olympic distance races in this past season alone. Luterman started Team Ariana in order to benefit Vogel Alcove through donations, race wear purchases and sponsorships.

Greenhill Second Grader Profiled on Texans with Character
Greenhill student Julian Frederick `26 was profiled KTVT's Texans with Character for his passion in the kitchen. Frederick - who is nicknamed the Step Stool Chef - started cooking when he was three-years-old after wanting to bake his own birthday cake, and four years later, he is inspiring other children. From cooking alongside TV Celebrity Chef Guy Fieri at the Metropolitan Cooking and Entertaining Show in Washington, D.C., to baking with the Food Network's Cake Challenge Champion, Chef Bronwen Weber - Frederick believes that cooking is not just about the food, but most importantly, the life lessons that the kitchen can teach a child.

Greenhill Students Win CARE Calendar Art Contest
Greenhill students Ilanna Feldman `22 and Jnana Velamuri `24 were among winners at the 2015 CARE (Chemical Awareness Resources and Education) Calendar Art Contest. The contests features artwork from students in grades 1-8 that promotes abstinence from drugs and alcohol, and the winner's artwork will be highlighted in CARE's online calendar each month. CARE is a nonprofit organization that funds classes for families struggling with substance abuse and provides speakers for Dallas-based families and schools.
