Greenhill Student Named Semifinalist in Playwriting Contest

Every year, Circle Theatre hosts a High School Playwriting Project to benefit local student playwrights. All DFW Metroplex high school teachers are invited to enter 10-minute scripts, written by their students, for evaluation by an experienced panel of judges.

Fern Hignite ’25 wrote Space Case in her Writing for Stage and Film course last semester, and her teacher submitted it to the project. Last week, it was announced that Fern’s play was one of the top 20 scrips that moved into the next round of evaluations conducted by Texas Wesleyan University's Playwriting Class led by Connie-Whitt Lambert.

On April 27, the Circle Theatre announced the finalists and semifinalists, with Fern being named a semifinalist! This honor is accompanied by a trophy, stipend, and theatre tickets to local venues. Fern will be honored at an awards ceremony on May 5 at the Circle Theatre.

Fern is directing Space Case as part of the Theatre Spotlight Showcase on May 9.

Congratulations on this amazing accomplishment!
