Greenhill Senior Signs National Letter of Intent

Greenhill senior Xavier Bryant signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Sam Houston State University on Monday morning at a ceremony in Rose Hall.

Bryant has earned All-Southwest Preparatory Conference laurels in each of the last four seasons and has guided the Hornets to 83 victories during that span. Last season, Bryant averaged 20.3 points, 6.1 assists, 5.1 rebounds and 4.3 steals per game en route to leading the Hornets to a 28-8 overall record and a third-place finish at the SPC Winter Championships.

A two-time MVP selection for the Hornets, Bryant becomes the second Greenhill men's basketball student-athlete to sign a NCAA Division I National Letter of Intent. The Greenhill senior joins Auston Evans - who signed with Lafayette College in 2015 - as the lone basketball student-athletes to earn the accomplishment.

The Greenhill point guard will be joining a Sam Houston State University men's basketball program that finished 21-13 last season, including 10-8 in the Southland Conference. The Bearkats are coached by Jason Hooten, who has led the team to 20 wins in three of the last four seasons.
