Hornets Fall at Home to St. Mark's in Overtime, 21-20

The Greenhill football program suffered a 21-20 overtime setback to crosstown rivals St. Mark's School of Texas on Friday evening at Brinkmann Field. The Hornets fell to 0-1, including 0-1 in SPC Counter action.
 
Senior Jake Webster connected on 14-of-30 passes for 294 yards and three touchdowns in the game - all of them to senior Xavier Bryant. Bryant finished with 7 catches for 183 yards and scores of 57, 65 and 25 yards.
 
The combination of Webster-to-Bryant gave the Hornets their first score of the game on a 57-yard pass with 9:57 left in the first quarter. Following a pair of scores by the Lions, Webster connected with Bryant once again for 65 yards in the fourth quarter. Following a two-point conversion to senior Kassidy Woods, the Hornets and Lions were tied at 14-14. The Hornets blocked a Lions' field goal as time expired to send the game into overtime.
 
The Lions scored first in overtime on a 1-yard run by quarterback Colin Neuhoff to take a 21-14 lead. The Hornets responded with a 25-yard pass from Webster to Bryant, but a failed PAT allowed the Lions to escape with the 21-20 victory.
