From the Alumni Office: Legend Dan Kasten

Greenhill School is saddened to share the passing of Greenhill Legend Dan Kasten. Dan passed away on Monday, June 12. He was 67 years old.

Last June, Dan retired from teaching after 33 years at Greenhill School. He was diagnosed with esophogeal cancer in late summer 2015.

The Tribute to Dan Kasten will take place on Saturday, June 17, at 11:00 am, in Rose Hall in the new Marshall Family Performing Arts Center on the Greenhill campus. Read his obituary here.
Please allow ample time for parking. Greenhill is hosting several groups on campus this weekend and because of this, we have secured additional parking spots in the Greenhill Office tower parking garage on Midway. Greenhill busses will run between the garage and the MPAC, or it is a five minute walk.  You can view a campus map here.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Greenhill endowment for financial aid. Please note this on the donation form.

NAIS Magazine - Spring 2009 - Lights on the Fast Lane
"One of the oddest listings in the Greenhill School (Texas) Curriculum Guide is a history elective called Inner Light: Traditions and Paths of Meditation. The course seems surprising for a number of reasons. It stretches the expectations of a history class and, even more dangerously, seems to inject an element of spirituality into the academic program of a school that has cultivated a modernist, secular image.
Our classroom practice emphasizes perspective, not escape. Problems are real; pain hurts; life can be lonely and confusing. To deny those things is to exercise not awareness but avoidance and self-deception. But careful observation and mindfulness can change the framework of life in significant ways."
