Alumnus Alex Comisar ’06 appointed as Press Secretary for Los Angeles Mayor

Mayor Eric Garcetti today appointed Alex Comisar as his administration’s new Press Secretary. He replaces former Press Secretary Carl Marziali.
In his new role, Comisar will work alongside current Press Secretary George Kivork to communicate Mayor Garcetti’s agenda for a more prosperous, safe, livable, and well-run city.
Comisar has been a member of Mayor Garcetti’s communications team since 2015, and has helped lead on the Mayor’s economic development agenda, as well as issues pertaining to the City’s proprietary agencies — Los Angeles World Airports, the Port of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
“Alex’s irrepressible work ethic and range of experience have been valuable assets to my administration,” said Mayor Garcetti. “I know that he will do an excellent job of communicating my agenda with the media and people of Los Angeles.”
Prior to joining the Garcetti Administration, Comisar worked as a public affairs and media relations consultant. During that time, he managed successful campaigns for government, nonprofit and corporate clients across the region.
“It’s been an honor to serve this administration during such an important moment for Los Angeles,” Comisar said. “I’m grateful to Mayor Garcetti for the opportunity to play this integral role in helping move his vision forward for our City.”
Comisar will begin his position immediately.
