Middle School Debate Shines at Vines Speech Tournament
This past weekend, 17 Greenhill Middle School students competed at the Vines High School Speech and Debate Tournament against 21 other schools from across the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
Seventh-grader Joshua Timmons took home first-place honors in Poetry and became the first Middle School student in Greenhill history to capture the Poetry title. Timmons - who outlasted 77 other students - received the unanimous first-place finish from three judges in the final round of eight competitors.
Sixth-grader Caroline Greenstone and fifth-grader Casey Ross each advanced to the semifinals in Oratory, ranking in the top-10 among 56 students competing in the event. In addition, fifth graders Taylor Levy and Shreeya Madhavanur also participated in the Oratory competition that required students to write and memorize their own speech.
