Girls Track & Field Captures Third Straight SPC Championship

The Greenhill girls track and field team captured its third consecutive SPC conference championship on Saturday afternoon at St. Mark's School of Texas.
 
Senior Jernaya Sharp captured four individual SPC crowns to go along with a runner-up finish in her final meet with the Hornets. The Notre Dame-signee won the conference title in the 100-meter dash (12.22), 100-meter hurdles (14.04), long jump (19-2) and triple jump (36-6.5) to go along with a second-place showing in the 200-meter dash (25.33).
 
Ellen Margaret Andrews captured a pair of individual SPC titles as the Greenhill junior won the 400-meter dash (57.16) and pole vault (10-0). Sofia Martin finished third overall in the 400-meter dash after posting a time of 58.57.
 
The Hornets captured the team titles in the 4x100-meter relay (47.87) and 4x400-meter relay (3:57.30) to go along with a fourth-place finish in the 4x800-meter relay (10:07.10).
 
In field events, Amelia Jones and Katy Goodwin tied for second overall in the pole vault after clearing 9-6 while Jessica Pugh finished third overall in the shot put (32-3.5).
 
The Hornets finished with a total of 155 team points while Hockaday School (142), St. John's School (133), Kinkaid School (88) and Trinity Valley School (53) rounded out the top five.
 
The Greenhill boys track and field team finished fourth overall at the 2016 SPC conference championships on Saturday afternoon at St. Mark's School of Texas.
 
Junior Bryson Houston finished first overall in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.99 while junior Konnell Woods posted a second-place showing in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.91. Daniel Brickman finished third overall in the 3,200-meter race after crossing the end line at the 9:50.89 mark.
 
Douglass Smith captured the long jump title with a distance of 21-6.5 to go along with a fourth-place showing in the triple jump (43-10). Antonio Lapeyrolerie finished second overall in the high jump after clearing a height of 6-5 while Kassidy Woods finished third overall in the long jump with a distance of 21-1.5.
 
Greenhill's 4x400-meter relay finished first overall with a time of 3:24.30 while the 4x100-meter relay finished fourth overall with a time of 42.89.
 
St. John's School captured the team title with 128 points while St. Mark's School of Texas (124), St. Stephen's Episcopal School (97.50), Greenhill (96) and Houston Christian School (62) rounded out the top five.
