Boys & Girls Finish Second at SPC North Zone Championships

The Greenhill boys and girls track and field teams each posted a second-place finish on Friday at the SPC North Zone Championships.
 
Senior Jernaya Sharp captured the meet championships in both the 100-meter dash (12.11) and long jump (18-6.75) to go along with a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash (25.40). Junior Ellen Margaret Andrews finished first overall in both the 400-meter dash (58.13) and pole vault (9-6) to go along with a fifth-place showing in the 200-meter dash (26.16).
 
The 4x100-meter relay team of Megan Olomu, Andrews, Sofia Martin and Rheagan Smith finished first overall with a time of 48.45. The 4x400-meter relay team of Olomu, Martin, Andrews and Caroline Simpson finished second overall with a time of 4:16.92. The 4x800-meter relay team of Ariana Carr, Chandler Crates, Cameron Crates and Maddie Kingan posted a time of 10:33.74 en route to finishing third overall.
 
Individually, Simpson finished second overall in the 400-meter dash (1:00.58) while Cameron Crates posted a third-place showing in the 800-meter race (2:25.68). Olomu added a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter dash (12.80).
 
In field events, Katy Goodwin and Amelia Jones finished second and third overall in the pole vault after clearing heights of 9-6 and 9-0, respectively. Jessica Pugh posted a second-place finish in the shot put (31-4.75) to go along with a fourth-place finish in the discus (83-7). Avery Jane Williams notched a third-place finish in the discus (84-4) while Mia Hirsch finished fourth overall in the high jump (5-0).
 
Hockaday School captured the girls' title with a total of 234 team points followed by Greenhill (186), Trinity Valley School (101), Casady School (95) and Fort Worth Country Day (41).
 
On the boys side, Bryson Houston finished first overall in the 100-meter dash (10.90) to go along with a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash (22.80). Senior Justin Estrada finished first overall in the 400-meter dash (51.00) while Daniel Brickman finished second overall in both the 1,600-meter race (4:45.75) and 3,200-meter race (10:18.69). Konnell Woods posted a pair of top-five showings after finishing second in the 110-meter hurdles (15.35) and third in the 300-meter hurdles (41.68). Matthew Zweig finished fourth overall in the 1,600-meter race with a time of 4:51.90.
 
The 4x100-meter relay team of Konnell Woods, Houston, Jaelen Harris and Estrada finished first overall with a time of 43.45. The 4x400-meter relay team of Kassidy Woods, Houston, Douglass Smith and Estrada also finished first overall with a time of 3:29.73. The 4x800-meter relay team of Cole Forson, Jacob Shepherd, Nicholas Suarez and Zweig finished fourth overall with a time of 9:05.51.
 
Smith finished first overall in the triple jump with a mark of 43-10.50 while Kassidy Woods posted a third-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 20-8. Grant Morgan finished fourth overall in the pole vault (10-0) while Jacob Pugh placed fifth overall in the shot put (42-3).
 
St. Mark's School of Texas claimed the boys' title with a total of 183.50 team points followed by Greenhill (158.50), Casady School (131), Fort Worth Country Day (102) and Episcopal School of Dallas (43).
