Girls Finish First; Boys Place Fifth at Richardson Invitational

The Greenhill girls track and field team notched a first-place finish at the Richardson Invitational while the boys track and field team finished fifth overall on Saturday.
 
Senior Jernaya Sharp captured three gold medals on Saturday in the 100-meter dash (12.22), 100-meter hurdles (15.35) and long jump (18-8). Sophomore Sofia Martin notched a pair of first-place showings in the 200-meter dash (26.47) and 400-meter dash (1:00.08). Freshman Megan Olomu finished second overall in the 200-meter dash (27.19) and 400-meter dash (1:01.83) while junior Rheagan Smith finished second in the 100-meter dash (13.02).
 
Maddie Kingan notched a second-place finish in the 800-meter race (2:42.06) while freshman Ariana Carr finished fourth overall in the 800-meter race (2:44.99). Freshman Katy Goodwin collected a pair of top-five showings after finishing second in the pole vault (9-0) and fifth in the 100-meter hurdles (18.47). Freshman Caroline Simpson finished third in the 400-meter dash (1:04.37).
 
Ariana Luterman finished third overall in both the 1,600-meter race (5:46.31) and 3,200-meter race (12:38.34) while junior Madison Cook finished fourth overall in the 3,200-meter race (12:38.96).
 
Senior Amelia Jones finished first in the pole vault after clearing a height of 10-0 while Britney Johnson finished fourth overall with a height of 7-0. Mia Hirsch finished third overall in the high jump (5-0), and junior Avery Williams finished fifth in the discus (75-1). Sophomore Jessica Pugh finished fifth overall in the shot put (30-5.75).
 
Greenhill captured the team title with a score of 166.5 points whiel Bishop Lynch High School (124), Richardson Berkner High School (119.5), Ursuline Academy (80) and Richardson High School (74) rounded out the top five.
 
Sophomore Daniel Brickman recorded a first-place showing in the 1,600-meter race (4:37.47) to go along with a second-place finish in the 3,200-meter race (10:20.63). Justin Estrada also collected a pair of top-five finishes after finishing second in the 400-meter dash (51.12) and 4th in the 200-meter dash (23.28). Junior Konnell Woods finished second in the 110-meter hurdles (15.60) and fifth in the 300-meter hurdles (42.42).
 
Senior Jacob Pugh claimed the title in the shot put (44-10) and finished second in the discus (115-4). Junior Douglass Smith finished third overall in the triple jump (40-2) while sophomore Grant Morgan posted a fifth-place finish in the pole vault (11-0). Greenhill's 4x100-meter relay team finished fifth overall with a time of 44.86.
 
Richardson High School captured the team title with a score of 134 points while Richardson Berkner High School (124), Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas (95.5), Dallas Carter High School (85.5) and Greenhill (76) rounded out the top five.
