Southwest Preparatory Conference Announces Winter Awards

The Southwest Preparatory Conference announced on Monday that Greenhill School had 11 student-athletes honored with winter all-conference recognition.
 
The girls soccer team led all programs with three all-conference performers in junior Rheagan Smith, sophomore Gabrielle Coben and freshman Caroline Simpson. This was the second consecutive season that Smith earned all-conference recognition while Coben and Simpson became award winners for the first time in their careers. Senior Abby Shosid earned All-North Zone honors to go along with Team MVP laurels while senior Lily Pigott earned All-North Zone and Hornet Award honors. Freshman Mira Jungerman was selected to the All-North Zone Team while sophomore Brooke Allen earned Most Improved honors. The Hornets finished the past season with a 16-5 overall record to go along with a third-place showing at the SPC Winter Championships.
 
Seniors Orion Marty and Ryan Pollack earned all-conference honors for the second time in their careers as members of the boys soccer team. In addition, Marty was selected as the Team's Most Valuable Player for the 2015-16 winter season. Seniors Jack Chasanoff, Liam Duggan, Justin Estrada and Marc Shidid all earned All-North Zone recognition along with junior Christian Quintero. Chasanoff and Estrada also earned Hornet Award honors. The Hornets finished the winter campaign with an 11-5-4 record and a fifth-place finish at the SPC Winter Championships.
 
Junior Ellen Margaret Andrews earned all-conference honors for the third time on the hardwood while freshman Jade Curington became a first-time winner for the girls basketball team. In addition, Andrews was selected as the Most Valuable Player for the girls basketball team this past season. Freshman Kionce Woods earned All-North Zone accolades while seniors Elaine Pennington and Jernaya Sharp both earned Hornet Award honors. The Hornets concluded their 2015-16 season with a 24-6 overall record to go along with a third-place finish at the SPC Winter Championships.
 
Junior Xavier Bryant became a three-time all-conference award winner while junior Malik Hudson earned all-conference recognition for the first time in his basketball career. Bryant also earned Most Valuable Player honors while Hudson was honored with the team's Hornet Award. Sophomore Kassidy Woods earned All-North Zone and Hornet Award honors while junior Douglas Kreitling was selected to the All-North Zone Team for the first time in his career. The Hornets finished fifth overall at the SPC Winter Championship and concluded their season with a 19-11 overall record.
 
Senior Nicolas Suarez was selected to the all-conference team for the fourth consecutive season to go along with Most Valuable Performer honors for the boys swimming team. Fresmen Alec Becker and Jacob Shepherd were both honored with the team's Hornet Award. The boys swimming team finished ninth overall at the SPC Winter Championships.
 
Freshman Erica Yang earned all-conference laurels for the first time in her swimming career and was selected as the team's Most Valuable Performer this past season. Senior Megan Marshall and freshman Maggie Gibson were both honored with the team's Hornet Award. The girls swimming team concluded their 2015-16 season with a seventh-place showing at the SPC Winter Championships.
