Greenhill Debate Earns Top Honors at St. Mark's Invitational

This past weekend, the Greenhill Debate Team competed at the St. Mark's Heart of Texas Invitational, which is one of the competitive tournaments in the country, and came away with outstanding results.Bennett Eckert `16 was selected as the top individual speaker after advancing past the preliminary rounds as the top seed. Eckert along with Graham Baker `16 both posted undefeated records after the preliminary and elimination rounds. Greenhill had three of the four spots in the semifinals, which marked the first time in tournament history that a team achieved this feat. With Baker and Varad Agarwala `16 closing out the bottom half of the bracket, Eckert defeated his Houston Strake Jesuit College Preparatory-opponent to set-up an all Greenhill final. This was the second straight tournament that Greenhill has "closed out" the finals - which means that students from the same school appear in the finals, but do not compete against each other.Congratulations to the Greenhill Debate Team for another successful tournament performance!
