Debate Team Earns Gold at Greenhill Fall Classic Tournament

The Greenhill Debate Team hosted both a Fall Classic tournament, which featured the best programs in the country, as well as a Lincoln Douglas Round Robin Tournament, and as always, the program came away with outstanding overall results this past weekend.

The Greenhill Fall Classic came with a twist this season as a new event was created to model the style of debate primarily reserved for the international community, known as the World Schools Debating Format. The team of seniors Shruthi Krishnan, Varad Agarwala and Graham Baker along with sophomore Shreya Agarwala came away with the team championship after going undefeated in the preliminary rounds followed by a victory over Harvard Westlake High School in the finals.

In the Lincoln Douglas Round Robin, senior Bennett Eckert was selected as the top individual speaker and was crowned tournament championship after capturing every single ballot. Baker also went undefeated in his portion of Round Robin play, only dropping a single ballot to close otu the final round of the tournament. It marked the first time in school history that Greenhill teammates were able to accomplish this goal.
