Speech & Debate Team Enjoys Early Season Success

The Greenhill Speech & Debate Team is off to a great start to the 2021-22 season. Below are some highlights from the first two months of the season. Click here to view individual tournament results.

LEADING CHAPTER AWARD
The National Speech and Debate Association recently recognized the Greenhill School Debate Team as the Leading Chapter of the Lone Star District of North Texas for the 2020-2021 school year. This coveted award is based on student participation and is given to only one school in the district. Out of over 3000 member schools nationwide, Greenhill School is one of only 108 schools to receive the Leading Chapter Award. This award is indicative of the teamwork, hard work, and multiple years of competitive success, as represents the communication, critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration skills learned in speech and debate.

GREENHILL STUDENTS RANKED AT THE TOP IN THE UNITED STATES
The National Speech and Debate Association Honor Society ranks students based on points earned in competition in the various competitive activities sponsored by the NSDA. The following Greenhill School students are representing their school, teams, and families and are leading, at or near the top of the leaderboard, all active students competing in their events from across the USA, as well as international members of the NSDA. Currently, Greenhill has 15 debaters who are ranked in the top-100 in the country in World Schools Debate. In addition, Greenhill has four debaters ranked in the top-100 in Lincoln Douglas Debate.

GREENHILL STUDENTS QUALIFIED FOR THE TEXAS FORENSIC ASSOCIATION STATE TOURNAMENT
This year will be the 50th Anniversary of the Texas Forensic Association State Tournament. The TFA State Tournament brings together students from public and private schools of all sizes who have qualified for the tournament as a result of success at invitational tournaments throughout the season. This year the tournament will be held at Gregory Portland High School, March 9 – 12, 2022.
