Greenhill Debate Concludes Season at NSDA National Tournament

The Greenhill Speech & Debate Team took part in the National Speech & Debate Association's National Tournament in June, which is the largest online academic competition in the world. The competition features over 6,000 students competing from 1,316 schools across the globe.

Joshua Timmons '21 finished third overall in the Program Oral Interpretation and was the third runner-up for the NSDA's Student of the Year Award. Timmons was the top-ranked competitor (out of over 500 competitors in each event) in the supplemental events of Prose and Prose Interpretation after the semifinals. Timmons concluded his Greenhill Debate career with five national championships to go along with a pair of state titles.

Shruti Siva '22 and Shreeya Madhavanur '23 finished ninth overall (out of 250 teams) in Policy Debate. This performance from the Greenhill teammates automatically qualifies them for the National Tournament next summer.

In the World Schools Debate competition, Ashton Higgins '22 and Nate Stitt '23 earned a berth in the triple octofinal round (top-64 teams out of over 200). In addition, the team of Cameron Kettles '22, Caroline Greenstone '22, Aimee Stachowiak '22, and Ashley Shan '22 reached the double octofinal round (top-32 teams) in the event. Kettles was selected as the 14th individual speaker out of over 1,000 individual competitors.

Teja Mettu '23 earned a berth in the elimination rounds in Lincoln Douglas Debate, ranking in the top-60 students in the competition out of over 200.

Congratulations to these talented students for an incredible season!
