Girls Track Finishes Second; Boys Place Fourth at SPC Championships

The girls track and field team finished second overall while the boys track and field team placed fourth at the conference championships, which was held at St. Mark's School of Texas.
 
One of the highlights of the weekend came from the record-breaking performance from the boys 4x100 relay team (Joshua Timmons, Jason Estrada, Brodric Houston, and Jaden Watt), who posted a school-record time of 42.71. Estrada also earned gold medal honors in the 400-meter race along with third-place honors in the triple jump. Pearson Brooks finished second in the 300-meter hurdles and third in the 100-meter hurdles while Cason Wetherill placed second in the high jump.
 
Jordyn Tarpeh led the girls track and field team with four top-three showings, including a first-place result in the 100-meter hurdles. In addition, Tarpeh finished second in the high jump and third in the 300-meter hurdles. Tarpeh was also a member of the 4x100 relay team along with Celina Prieur, Clarissa Smith, and Leah Smith that finished third overall.
 
Smith also finished third overall in the 300-meter hurdles and finished second overall in the 4x400 relay along with Prieur, Mahek Gupta, and Kaylee Wilson. Leah Smith captured gold medal honors in the high jump while Wilson finished third overall. Rachel Wegener posted a first-place finish in the pole vault along with a second-place showing in the long jump.
