Middle School Quiz Bowl Teams Claim Tournament Titles

The Greenhill Middle School Quiz Bowl Teams came away with a pair of TQBA Goldeneye Tournament championships this past weekend.
 
Greenhill's "A" Team, which consists of seventh-graders Maya Jagsi, Aaron Kuang, Kate Ponnambalam, and Evans Senvalds, posted an undefeated record to claim the MS Division championship. The squad opened up tournament action with a dominating 575-45 victory over Kinkaid's "A" Team before defeating T.H. Rogers Middle School "B" Team, 430-230, in the semifinals. In the championship match, Greenhill cruised to a 380-205 victory over Beckendorff Junior "C" Team.
 
Greenhill's "F" Team, which consists of sixth-graders Naomi Huang, Lydia Kerridge, Henry Lipnik, and Vikram Sampath, notched their first tournament victory of the season in the Elementary Division. The team defeated Greenhill's "G" team by a 195-75 margin in the semifinals before defeating Annunciation Orthodox "C" Team by a 165-135 score to claim the division title.
 
After tournament action on Saturday, three Greenhill students participated in the NAQT Middle School Individual Player National Championship Tournament on Sunday afternoon. Varun Mukund finished 19th in the nation with a score of 47.65 while Aaron Kuang and Harris Xie finished 23rd and 39th overall with scores of 31.10 and 27.49, respectively.
