Greenhill World Schools Team Wins NDCA Championship

The team of Caroline Greenstone ’22, Cameron Kettles ’22, Ashley Shan ’22 and Aimee Stachowiak ’22 are the champions of the National Debate Coaches Association National Championship. They defeated The Potomac School (VA) in the finals on a unanimous decision. This is the SECOND national championship that this team has won!The team of Kaden Alibhai ’24, Carcyn Coleman ’23, Ashton Higgins ‘22, Sophia Mohamed ’23 and Nate Stitt ’23 advanced to the semifinals only to be matched against the other Greenhill team.The team received several individual speaker awards. Ashton Higgins ’22 was the TOP SPEAKER of the tournament, Caroline Greenstone ’22 was second speaker, Cameron Kettles ’22 was third speaker, Ashley Shan ’22 was fourth speaker, Nate Stitt ’23 was seventh speaker, Natalie Stachowiak ’24 was eighth speaker and Sophia Li ’24 was the ninth speaker.In policy debate the team of Lindsay Feinstein ‘21 and Shruti Siva ’22 advanced to the octofinal round.In Lincoln Douglas Debate, Krutin Devesh ’22 and Varsha Gande ’22 advanced to the double octofinal round. Krutin also was named the 5th best individual speaker in Lincoln Douglas.Dr. Alexandria Chase wins the National Debate Coaches Association Rising Star Award
Dr. Alexandria Chase was recently awarded The Rising Star award by the National Debate Coaches Association. The Rising Star Award honors a teacher early in his or her coaching career that is a full-time employee of a school and be in their first five years of coaching debate in a full-time capacity.Director of Debate Aaron Timmons comments, “In just a few short months, of arriving on campus the number of young women (inclusive of young women of color) who have opted to join the team has expanded dramatically given her commitment to gender and racial equity in her model of teaching, inclusive of expanding the range of arguments/argument styles explored. Her advocacy for gender and racial diversity on our team, and in the community writ large, is evident in her work.”
