Dr. Marcus Ingram Named Director of Equity & Inclusion

Greenhill School named Marcus Ingram, Ph.D., as its new Director of Equity & Inclusion effective August 1, 2020.

Dr. Ingram is currently the Inclusion Director at George School in Newtown, Pennsylvania. He brings to Greenhill a strong background in developing and implementing strategic inclusion initiatives; robust leadership experience; and an innate ability to connect with students, faculty, families, and all members of the community.

At George School, Dr. Ingram partnered with the Head of School as a member of the senior leadership team to create a more equitable and inclusive school community. He led efforts to formulate and execute a comprehensive equity and inclusion strategy that now guides the school's development of sustainable, equitable policies and procedures. In addition, he implemented structures designed to enhance the understanding of and clarify the school's commitment to equity and inclusion. He launched the Student Inclusion Committee and the Faculty-Staff Inclusion Committee, and he established educational opportunities across the community.

Dr. Ingram also initiated Project Unity: George School, a large-scale public art project that transformed the George School community and continues to be meaningful to the school today. His visionary leadership and approachable demeanor helped him to establish an easy rapport with students and faculty, making him a trusted strategic and tactical resource across the campus.

Prior to joining George School, Dr. Ingram served in higher education both domestically and abroad. At Wake Forest University, he held a number of positions, ranging from Assistant Director of Admissions & Coordinator of Multicultural Recruitment to Assistant University Chaplain. During his most recent tenure at Wake, Dr. Ingram served as Associate Dean of Undergraduate Admissions & Director of Diversity Engagement, developing and implementing a comprehensive plan to assist in the achievement of the University's diversity enrollment goals. He has also worked at the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein, South Africa, as Head of Institutional Advancement and Head of Quality Enhancement, expertly delivering on the University's strategic priorities.

Dr. Ingram earned a B.S. in analytical finance and a Master of Divinity from Wake Forest University and a Ph.D. in education from the University of Virginia.

Dr. Ingram's colleagues describe him as "courageous, pastoral, and a wonderful storyteller," a "joyful colleague with a delightful sense of humor," and someone with a "towering intellect." He is also known as a tenacious and effective change agent and leader. As we move forward with our strategic planning work in 2020-2021, Dr. Ingram will lead the implementation of the equity and inclusion initiatives identified in the plan.

Dr. Ingram and his wife Dineo Gaofhiwe-Ingram and son Kago, who will be entering kindergarten, will be moving to Dallas this summer.
