Middle School Students Shine at Model UN Invitational
Congratulations to the Middle School Model UN (MUN) Team led by teachers Kara Smith and Natalie Nihill Ruberto. They had a great showing on Sunday, April 8 at the St. Mark's Freshman and Middle School Invitational ("FROSHMUN I"), where our teams brought home two first place awards and one second place award!
Students participated in one of two committees - the Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC)orthe Historical Committee (HC). Theyengaged in research, public speaking, debating, questioning, critical thinking, writing,and teamwork skills from 8:30 am - 4:00 pm in an effort to pass resolutions to controversial topics. Three awards wereavailable in each committee for a total of six, and Greenhill students came away with three of them - two first place and one second place.
Representing Greenhill School were Jothi Gupta, Pranav Mukund, Xander Fermier, Timmy Nadolsky, Ashley Shan, Shruti Siva, and Aimee Stachowiak.
Special recognition went to Shruti Siva, Best Delegate DISEC; Jothi Gupta, Best Delegate HC; and Aimee Stachowiak, Distinguished Delegate HC.
Special accolades go to Jothi Gupta and Pranav Mukund for all of their hard work in getting this team off the ground. Thank you also to all of the 6th - 8th grade MUN members. Ms. Smith and Ms. Ruberto said, "It was truly a team effort to prepare for this event, and we look forward to more like this in the future. Our ninth-grade MUN participants are also looking forward to continuing this opportunity in Upper School."
