Middle School New Family Information

Dear New Middle School Families,

I’m delighted to welcome you to Greenhill and to the Middle School! You will soon discover that the Greenhill community is just the place to feel connected and energized, especially in these unsettled times. Although we cannot be together yet, I will be sharing lots of need-to-know details with you to make your transition a smooth one. In addition, we will provide you with important dates and contact information for others at Greenhill who can answer your specific questions.

Please note the following important dates and events:

Middle School students at all grade levels have several scheduling choices to make this spring. Procedures for selecting elective classes, 7/8 sports, and languages as well as math placement will be shared first in each transition night. Follow up will be from the departments chairs directly, and their contact information is listed below.

Summer reading lists and instructions for each grade level will be posted soon on the Welcome New Families page. We have purchased all required summer reading books (one per grade level) for you and will be sharing the pickup process later this spring.

For your school year planning purposes, Middle School carpool dismissal times begin at 3:40 pm for grades 5 and 6 and at 4:05 pm for grades 7 and 8 coming from athletics, PE, or dance.

The Greenhill Parents Association will be delivering Greenhill Welcome Bags for you later in April, but if you would like to purchase Greenhill gear for your new student, please order online at The Buzz, Greenhill’s campus store.

You should already have website login information, giving you access to everything posted on the Parent Resource Board. Please check the Enrollment Checklist to make sure items like the health forms and immunizations are submitted on time. (Note: The SNAP Health Portal login will be coming later this week.)

We are excited to match each new Middle School family with a buddy family. Those matches will be coming in early June.

Finally, please visit New Families Webpage for additional information. This site includes a link to information about our 1:1 laptop program. All new 5th grade students will be participating in that program. The technology department will be sharing information on technology options for rising 6th-8th grade students in the coming weeks.

Again, welcome to Greenhill! We’re excited to have your child with us beginning in August and beyond for the engaging learning experience that is Middle School. I hope to see each of you soon, and don’t hesitate to reach out should you have any questions at all.

Warm regards,

Susan Palmer
