Greenhill First Grader Wins Texas Coast Art Contest

Greenhill student Hanyi Lu ’34 was recently named a winner of the 27th Annual Treasures of the Texas Coast Children’s Art Contest. A total of 40 winners were named and will be featured in the 2024 Adopt-A-Beach calendar.

“It was truly inspiring to see the beautiful pieces this prompt encouraged young Texans to craft,” Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D. said noting that all the artwork was based on the theme of what makes the Texas coast important or special to the artist.

The contest, open to all Texas students from kindergarten through sixth grade, is held annually by the Texas General Land Office’s Adopt-A-Beach program — a volunteer-based program dedicated to preserving and protecting Texas beaches.

Congratulations, Hanyi, keep up the great work!
